ProSep Wins Contract to Supply Multiphase Separator to BP Alaska Liberty Project
February 2009 - ProSep Technologies, Inc., has received a PO to supply a 32-inch ID x 15-foot S/S multiphase carbon steel separator with internals to Worley Parsons (WP) Group for the BP Alaska Liberty Project. The vessel is a well-head design and will operate at high pressure (3750 psig). The delivery is scheduled for Q4 2009.
As a solution to a project that was difficult mechanically for many potential vendors, ProSep's 32-inch rolled shell with 316L stainless steel overlay is an optimized design that will deliver performance gains while allowing the project team to cost-effectively manage a significantly improved delivery schedule.
"ProSep was able to pull together the process aspects along with the challenging mechanical requirements of the system to form one unified solution that ultimately resulted in ProSep's being awarded the contract," said VP Business Development John B. Sabey. "Our relentless solution-driven approach, led by Account Manager – Liquid Separations Warren Smith, and our engineering know-how furthered WP / BP's confidence in ProSep's ability to deliver on this project."
The multi-phased metering application is the fourth purchase order in the past year in a continued WP / BP Alaska partnering with ProSep. In 2008 ProSep entered into contracts to supply an inlet separator, compressor / suction / discharge scrubbers, and an inline deliquidizer to WP / BP.
BP's Liberty project will set standards for oilfield development in the Arctic. BP plans to use footprint-minimizing extend-reach wells to "reach out" to a 100-million barrel oil reservoir six miles east of an existing field. Initial production from Liberty is slated to start up in 2011 with an anticipated 40,000 BPD production by 2013.
